Closest thing to a promise set was "Beta test being prepared over December, expected to go live with beta in mid January."
Which still isn't something that was set in stone. Additionally, it was never said whether or not they would actually let people play in the Beta.
The only reason they started working on this server is because they asked people to see if there was any interest left in a new server. When DR BR died, that meant no server left alive. If you wait half a year before opening a new server without letting anyone know and with no current server up, chances are all the people that played DR will have scattered and you wouldn't even get your old audience back. It would actually have been a terrible idea to do it the way you are saying.
The 'rumors' that are started are also very predictable. You make something up that you don't actually want to happen, hoping that a GM comes along to dispel the rumor and then you find out what you wanted to know in the end. But this way, you stir shit and start drama at the same time, which draws more attention to it, which increases the likelihood of a reply. If it was true, what the hell do the GM's have to lose by making a post that says 'The cake is a lie, good bye.' instead of making everyone wait around? It's not like they'll ever have to deal with any of you again, and that's probably a plus for them.
They said 2010 Q1. Until April rolls around, no one has broken any promises and no one is entitled to anything.
