if you want to customize staffs the str on shield come back to play, dex and ps on a staff will also let you wear 137+ shoes and if shields have str, wiz and priest will have to choose between ac or speed, thats customizable, also it has the variety you wanted o_o

my inglish is not exacly the best but for what i understand you whant to put str as a requiremet to shields?, personaly i dont think this is a good idea, making shield a bad option for them is not the solution giving staff a use is, olso thieves will have a huge problem is this happends.

about the 137+ shoes, since they dont have mop they wont be running like thieves, aside of that if they are going to focus on combat is not that crazy to make them go a bit faster.

why not boost the staffs a little? more attack power and some defence maybe? or a bonus to spell dmg or something...

or if it is possible maybe change the walk speed of mage/priest with shield so they walk slowly if they were using a staff (staff walk normal / shield + weapon walk slower)

Staft should really be improved, staff are the most useless weapon on dr, there are very little situations where a priest/wiz would prefer use staff insted of shields.
incrase of dmg/ac is a good idea, also giving some skills to lvl up ttcs (only splash would be fine already).
giving some kind of bonus also could help.

str on shield i think could cause some big problems, thief could become archer with less dmg, also wiz dont have any points to spare until + - D3(cant make wiz chose spell or ac, they already have low life, with low ac its just a piece o paper), priest also would have some problems.
shields are fine the way they are, i only think that dual shields should be only for warriors.

we should focus on making staffs better then making shields worst

w/ staff = 100% magic dmg
w/o staff(w/ shield) = 75%

like warrior, have shield - lower dmg, no shield - 2h wep = higher dmg

p.s. if 100 and 75 aint working, then could 105 and 80...

the idea is to buff staff not to nerf the only decent build priest/wiz have.

buffing spell damage isnt either a good option, wiz already hit hard to give them more firepower.

staffs are not that useless, theres different things u can do with a staff then a weapon + shield
staff is weak tho but still nice to use, yea u have lower defence but thats what ac rares are for.
Theres times when staff is better and a lot of times when shield is, some people wont level their whirling to make it more useful

As for changing it i dont know if giving a spell damage difference for shield and staff is that great of an idea, its already tradeing melee damage for melee defence
Doesnt matter much to me tho cause if i pay a spell casting class ill level the spell tt the staff tt and the main weapon with shield tt so doesnt change what id do
