Community update: our plans for the future

Postby GMSignBreaker » Fri Jul 09, 2010 3:27 am

I would first like to thank all of you who have been giving great suggestions, input, and most of all, showing your love for our favorite game. There are three pressing issues that we are trying to deal with and they will all be covered here.

1. Advertisement Campaign

A healthy server not only serves current players, but also brings in new blood. As you have noticed, we haven't mounted an advertisement campaign and there are several reasons for that. The biggest reason why we haven't mounted an advertisement campaign is because of how unfriendly the beginning stages are to new players. There's no point in advertising and having a low retention rate because of various issues with the game. We have a number of strategies to deal with this.

A. Help files: We are in the process of completely overhauling the help files so that they are more informative, easy to read, and most of all, helpful.
Completed. In the future may add more pages, more complete and better quality information.

B. Combat skill overhaul for lower level players: We are in the process of figuring out what the numbers are for lowering combat skill requirements. You have all noticed the dreadful early levels, where all you do is auto attack (for combat skill classes) until you pick up a combat skill. Even then, you have no CP regeneration and you can only use it for a limited amount of time. We plan to change this. We see no reason to have new players go through hell and quit without seeing our skills! We are also planning on boosting holy light for priests by lowering the requirements and giving the skill a little boost.

C. Global chat: Ever noticed how hard it is to get a party going? We plan on implementing a global chat so new players can ask questions in it as well as search for a party. Global chat would also facilitate trade in game and help even higher levels find a party! Kills two birds with one stone.

D. Newbie town: We find that the newbie town gives off a bad vibe for new players, as it is empty and does nothing to help new players. We don't have any concrete plans on this, so we are seeking your input on what to do with the newbie town.

When all of the above are accomplished, only then will we mount a massive campaign to advertise for new players.

2. Nation Imbalance

We have two quick fixes for nation imbalance. First, we are moving the guild Zero Tolerance to Vyseus. Second, we are removing the nation transfer item in the item mall. Nation transfers will only be done via the ticket system. If approved, the person willing to transfer will pay 750 RE (same price as nation transfer item).

We realize this is a quick fix and there might be some questions about moving Zero Tolerance to Vyseus. We assure you this was done in order to balance nations for the time being. Our long term solution for nation imbalance is still a work in progress so we would greatly appreciate your patience while we sort things out. In the mean time, the quick fix should alleviate some problems with nation imbalance.

3. Local War Overhaul[semi-completed]
[Completed]
 Point displayer
 Equal ways to receive points for attacking stone
 Points for buffs and resses for priests/mages
 Defeated will not lose everything upon end of war
[In-process]
 Better points for defenders
 Better system for things such as not requiring to gain a minimum amount of points between stone kills, remove delay for buff points, etc.

4. Leveling quests

Currently GMSignPainter is working on fixing bigmaze and getting it up and running. Afterwards, a quest editor will be completed which will be used on leveling quests. ETA: unknown until bigmaze is fixed.

Well Planed
but would be nice to buff archers first before this.
I'm afraid that the community will discourage new players to choose archers as their choice.

Because new players would know what to expect when choosing archers over any other class right? New players won't know if they are good or bad unless they read very unknowledgeable people like you who say they are bad.

Buffing archers is not the key to the future.

Thanks,

adding /revival command to act as a teleport is good
but more importantly, allowing losing nations to gain fame for breaking stones and killing higher level players is the key to gain more players to wars. As you can see, many players having a level higher than 105 are still at crossing class, not only because they dont hv extreme stones, but most of them juz dont hv enough fame. I think this is a solution which reli kill two birds with one stone.

Make war so, that if we crash we would not loose dual fame nor the fame and please make it so that i can get fame and dual fame by killing lower lvls, because the 8lvl cap sucks, it does not give me no reward for killing lvl 110 or so, due the fact i am to high lvl and in wars i crack 3 stones and stay under ss, so i would not loose the dual fame, And that is not fun for me or to the enemys.

for your info.. I am a new player T_T
I have never said anything bad about archer. what do you think I name my username as cupid for? try search for old topics in this section and see how they (old players) discourage new players to choose archer as their choice. they had me no choice but to choose other class. I just don't know why warrior's gets their buff so quick and archer's just keep on delaying. now I see many archers running around, why is this happening? because GM promised to buff them on june and they're still waiting...

Excuse me, but may I ask which warrior buff you are referring to?

He's probably referring to the splash damage buff. And honestly right now, archer buff has little relevance to bringing in new players. As Minipp pointed out, new players don't know these kinds of stuff unless people are actively spreading the word around not to make archers. Even then, only a handful newbies will quit the game simply because they think the archer class sucks.
