In my opinion, adding gold, exp, fame or any other prizes in war will help making people NEED to go to war. To make them WANT to go to war, i think the right path is the PRIDE AND GLORY one.
So, the sugestion goes like this:
- Every war has an ID, and the server records all the kills and deaths a player has in that war (kill = last hit);
- There's an WAR HISTORY section in the website;
-- You can search wars by war ID or by DATE and TIME, and check the list of top killers, top deaths or top players in that war (there should be a system to give points based on kills considering lvl and etc);
-- You can search by player name in ALL TIME wars, to see how many deaths/kills someone has, also there should be TOP 10 in kills/deaths/points/stones;
Basically, this would be like an WAR LADDER or w/e.
I think it's not that hard to implement, since it'd only need to record the kills and deaths and the stone DMG. The rest is setting a webpage to use this data and organize it. There are a lot of other things one can add using the aquired data from the server. There can be categories like CLAN, NATION, CLASSES, LVL RANGE and lots of other things.
This should make war more interesting.
