Is it a butchering bug in my character?

Dear GM

I might encounter a in-game bug on butchering in my character. Butchering is my current and only job. I learned the skill and bought the knife. I could kill the cow (or sheep) and successful got the meat. However, my butchering did not rise at all and was frozen at 5, the initial level. The on-screen message continuously said that I should learn the item first although I have done so and have already cut the meat successfully. The same thing happened to sheering. Is it a bug? If so, what information do you need to fix it?
