Behind The Name....

Tinbrion (Intermediate Deity)
God of Shadow, Slavery, Secrets, Art, and Magic
Symbol: A field of Shadows with a red eye in the center or a ring made of black, white and green twisted together
Home Plane: Yllse
Alignment: Unknown
Portfolio: Shadow, Art, Thievery, Magic, Hidden Knowledge
Worshipers: shadow knights, shadow mages, penumbral lords, shadow dancers, thieves, explorers, shadow dragons, shadow fiends
Domains: Shadow, Knowledge, Trickery, Luck, Chaos, Secrets(RR2)
Favored Weapon: Dagger, rapier, and staff

For as long as there have been dragons, Tinbrion has observed them. In the battle between Garyx and Tiamat for the dominion of evil dragons that even Garyx no longer remembers; Tinbrion and Tiamat still recall it. There is virtually nothing that transpires when it comes time for dragons to end their lives that Tinbrion is unaware of. Yet despite being phenomenally powerful, he has comparatively little influence over the affairs of his assigned charges; this is apparently precisely as Io wishes it.
Compared to his famous and infamous siblings such as Bahamut and Tiamat, Tinbrion is relatively remote. However, for those scholars of the draconic that have managed to discern some details of the truth of Tinbrion’ personal history and power, they believe that Tinbrion is nothing less than the first hatched offspring of Io and as a result, the second oldest dragon in existence.
Tinbrion has only two concerns for his existence. The first is the observation of draconic lifespan and history throughout The Mortal Coil and the Outer Planes without regard for alignment, and second is the guardianship of draconic death and fate. Simultaneously, Tinbrion very rarely acts directly or interacts with his charges. As a result, Tinbrion is largely mythical to younger dragons, and even the Ancient dragons or those greatest Wyrms that manage to live to be much older typically know little about him.
Although Tinbrion would state his policy of strict neutrality (assuming he bothered to say anything at all), he has managed to accumulate no small number of enemies. In particular, Falazure despises the idea of any being actually governing or knowing the precise lifespan of him and his servitor Shadow Dragons and dracoliches. Tinbrion is presumably completely apathetic to Falazure’s emnity which infuriates The Night Dragon even more. Falazure’s worshippers are governed by Tinbrion as all other dragons are-dracolichdom simply means they last longer, but they still always last precisely as long as they are supposed to from Tinbrion’ detached perspective.
Similarly, Tiamat has sent multiple draconic emissaries to the Concordant Domain of the Outlands in order to try and find Tinbrion and bribe him into aiding the cause of Perdition. Most of these emissaries end up finding absolutely nothing at all; several have simply never returned to Avernus with no explanation ever received.
Tinbrion’ relations with the good-aligned draconic entities that exist, while less filled with machinations, are also distant at best. Although they do not agree with Tinbrion’ neutrality, unlike Tiamat and Falazure, they are for the most part at least bound by their own sense of ethics to respect it. Exceptions have existed among the followers of Tamara and Bahamat. These exceptional dragons invariably find themselves questing for the Mausoleum of Tinbrion in order to discover answers to questions that will be better answered at their own moments of death.
While Tinbrion is possibly the second most powerful dragon next to Tiamat, out of all of the brood of Io he has the smallest number of worshippers. This is due in part to the fact that draconic passions and grudges are phenomenally persistent as befitting beings with such naturally long lifespans, causing relatively few dragons to be willing to separate themselves from their passions and instead follow the path of Tinbrion which involves impartial and detached observation of all things draconic. The most common name for such worshippers is Dispassionate Observers, although they are known by many others throughout the Planes. Tinbrion also has a few mortal worshippers. Generally, they are divided between half-dragons whose draconic parents opted to maintain relations with their offspring and taught them the wisdom of Tinbrion, or mages that are committed to the ideal of detached watching which Tinbrion epitomizes.
Tinbrion can be found in the Mausoleum of Tinbrion, a massive subterranean labyrinth of passageways just large enough for Tinbrion to fit through in his natural form and filled with sand-filled hourglasses. Tinbrion seems to be intrinsically linked to the Mausoleum of Tinbrion. Whether this is because of how Tinbrion was instructed by Io and assigned with the tasking of tracking the deaths and fates of all dragons, or whether Tinbrion actually designed the Mausoleum of Tinbrion himself is unknown. In terms of the Mausoleum’s spatial location in the Outlands, it is believed to lie not particularly far from the Dwarven Mountain. While the Dwarves, as well as their patron deities refuse to speak of the issue directly, those individuals and libraries well-stocked enough to carry ancient maps of the Dwarven Mountain, some of the oldest maps in existence actually display an unusual distinct lack of tunneling and mining in one particular direction. This is believed to be the only indication of the direction in which the Mausoleum lies compared to the Mountain.
As far back as the records of any race can remember, Tinbrion has had the Mausoleum of Tinbrion to himself. It is excavated below an ancient city that does not conform to the architectural standards of any culture, known or unknown either in the Concordant Domain, or elsewhere in the Outer Planes. The only beings that seem to even recognize it are the Rilmani, who will only answer that they have some familiarity with it and leave all other questions regarding it’s status unanswered.
While the appearance of Tinbrion in his true form (a rare enough occurance in it’s own right) is thoroughly disturbing, Tinbrion in fact is not evil, although by the standards of most mortals he is extremely unpredictable in terms of his actions, as well as utterly lethal should he choose to act against the living. Compared to the other offspring of Io, creatures such as Tiamat or Bahamut, Tinbrion is practically diminutive. Tinbrion’ true form appears to be a Huge dragon with ebon scales that seem to be falling off in pieces, revealing bones of a dull metal like unpolished gold or bronze around his rib cage. Tinbrion’ horns, unlike those of a normal black dragon (although he is nothing of the sort) are gleaming white, tattooed in ancient high Draconic, and point upwards instead of forwards. Even if Tinbrion chooses to make himself known, he rarely speaks and prefers to use the fewest number of words necessary to make a point or demonstrate through action whatever point he may be trying to get across. Usually this leaves beings wondering what he was trying to say for years to come.
Combat: Tinbrion loathes combat not because he is incompetent at it, but simply because most of the time he has better things to do with himself. The overwhelming majority of the time, an individual that attempts to engage Tinbrion in combat will find out very rapidly that their attempt is futile. More often than not Tinbrion breathes once, disappears, and even assuming that any being survives his breath weapon, is simply never seen again by the foolish being that attempted to fight him... at least until their death, in the case of dragons. Tinbrion is also aided by the fact that with the exceptions of Io and Tiamat, even the fangs and talons of the other draconic entities could not penetrate his armor without the aid of spells. Most other types of mortals Tinbrion is simply uninterested in, and in the exceptionally rare circumstances in which Tinbrion’ disguises are pierced, he will play the Tone of Deception, edit the mind of the being that confronted him, and simply fly off.
The only circumstances that will provoke Tinbrion in engaging in any kind of prolonged combat are attempts to intrude upon the Mausoleum of Tinbrion, or the attempted defiling of a Draconic Graveyard. In the first case he will breathe on opponents, unleash a twinned, quickened lower spell resistance in order to increase the vulnerability of his foes, and then use his cloudkill in order to weaken them while he rapidly flies in and starts to attack with his nearly impossible to defeat claws. If they are protected by magical effects, he will resort to a quickened dispelling breath first, followed by a disjunction if the former spell proved unsuccessful.
