Sincerely, I played both and fencer does have a huge dmg but just as like it has a CRAP AC and lower hp (no tyberns), means its more dmg for less resistance. Double mace/sword, for instance, can have a higher HP (tyberns bug), plus poison/slow (well, fencer can get pepsi too), and got a higher AC, I think its a fair trade. Whats the point in giving double mace/sword a sword n rose skill and letting them keep dark skills? I'd go for double for sure, it'll have the same power of a fencer yet more flexibility towards skills, like tyberns, poison, etc.
I agree on making earth skill more useful thou, the atk ones, even thou it has stone armor which is uber agaisnt anything non-magical o;O
