Thats it.

Sword + Shield vs people you cant handle easily (or mages).
Staff vs people with higher CON than you (Warriors, higher DC grade, etc) or specifcs situations where their AC is too high.

And dont forget to always keep Authority of Greatest Luck on (did i spell the name correctly? been years )

Sorry Dietsprite post offs topic. As Kador and bmini said staff gives you a better chance land a kill after life drain(priest spell), but on the another hand you have to sacrifice some white ac(which is really important) since you are not wearing the shield, means you will get more dmg taken(both spell and physical). Dagger/shield give you more defense, but it's hard to kill others(high con class) since dagger does much lower dmg than staff, that's why some priest choose spear(64 or 75 tt) build, but you need to put enough str to wear it, which means you can not max your endu(stats provide you less spell dmg taken). Overall if you want to play easy just use dagger/shield wearing Counterstrike to give melees some wtf moments lol, about 1v1 with wiz, you find out yourself ^^

use satff, make full ac and high speed of movement ( or wise ), then using agailty candle...
