Request for Merchant Master information

Postby misterd » Fri Mar 29, 2013 3:32 am

Hi there,

I am looking for some comprehensive help on what can be achieved, and how I need to go about it [beyond the obvious 'bring 8 gemstones of x, y and z'], with the Merchant Master ability seen on the Guild/GM NPC menu?

Thanks in advance.

You can whisper anybody in any nation, you get a green no effect cape, you can make double rares. It's extremely time consuming, but in my opinion, it's worth it, cause you feel good after you've accomplished it. ^^

Thanking you, Father.

I have attained Merchant status, and have heard of the double rares ability in the past.

There does not seem to be any info that I can find on how that process works. All I know of it has come second hand from people who had never tried it out for themself. I'd be grateful for the official version either from the GM team or someone who has gone the whole way. I'm looking for a step-by-step guide and hope that someone out there is willing to share their expertise :-)

I'm a merchant, I've just never made double rares. Imo it isn't worth it, I prefer g7-9s over double G5 rares. Better to mail someone like Revival in game, he's made quite a few double rares.

Thanks again for the response.

It led me to broaden my search and I came across this thread.

If indeed it is the case the G5 is the max grade for a double rare then I am inclined to agree with you with regard to making them, although a g5 force/accurate is a tempting idea (for levelling rather than pvp) as I think that could out-damage a g7 (g8?) force.

Yeah. Where're you from btw? You've got amazing English compared to 95% of the people here.

They can be very powerful items. In general a g5 is about half as effective as a g10. Therefore 2 double rares could give you the samve values as 2 g10 items with a hell of a lot less work. For instance, you could make 3 double rares dist/force and come out with g15 forve and g15 distant which would be pretty great for leveling and in a best case scenario youd only need to make 6 g5s. As opposed to (i cant remember exact number right now) a lot more g5s for a g10. Also, most people would generally stop between a g7 and a g9 as they take forever to make.

(Will be continued in next post, phone typing really slow)

In terms of pk, a thief dualed to corsair (most common and arguably the best) has g7.5 ac with a g4 symbol, and assuming you are wearing 2 scs, another g4 ac. A total of g11.5 ac. Most thiefs go with an ac/force build for most occasions. You would max out ac with1 g9 item (get really close with a g8). Youd also want force rares for damage. Youd probably be best to just make single rare items 1 ac, 2 force. This would be good for most situations, but against warriors or priests who use ca/strike rares youd want robber or desire rares and maybe some smart. So for that build, double rares would probable he helpful 1 smart/robber, 1 robber/desire, 1 desire/ac or force. Or any other combination. It takes a lot of time, but you could really see some benefits from the double rares. I have no experience in making them but have put a lot of thought into what i could do with them if i did make them. Hope this helped

Edit: sorry for any typos, did this on my phone
