Balancing warmaps.

Postby täisdibla » Fri Apr 13, 2012 11:52 pm

I decided to break off discussion from another topic and continue here instead.

The warmaps aren't balanced at all. Other than GG, Yllse is generally easier to attack than the other nations as all the stones are very open, there are no real bottlenecks. Not to mention there is a damn potion shop in sedless which the enemy nation can use.

My suggestions are the following:
 Remove the potion shop in Vyseus
 Remove the potion shop in Sedless or disable its use during nation war.
 Move the last Vyseus stone, the one at the edge of a cliff, into a more open space elsewhere on the map or expand the landscape around the stone.
 Move the 3rd stone in Renus Out, the one inside the trees, a bit more into the open.
 Remove the bushes around the last stone in Kalaile Village. The closed cliff is already defensive enough.
 Fix Zypern stones so people cannot bug themselves inside the stones.

The stone changes may seem small and insignificant, but they will make a big difference in war outcome. The other stones are generally fine and balanced and don't need repositioning.

If you want to bring up the argument about distance between stones being an advantage for the defending nation, it's not. It's actually more of an advantage for the attackers, since it's easier to defend stones that are closer together to each other.

All of these updates should be really easy to implement, so coding shouldn't be a problem. Cheers.

I dont think they would change Stones' position
On the other hand, Its easy to remove pot sellers.

But I dont wish any of those changed. I like the game the way it is.
Removing poition seller won't balance anything, because both Attack and Defence may buy from it :greet:
This should only be proftable to zypern, but I don't think they need that hand (Am I wrong?)
Be the change you wanna see to the world.

After the embarrassing display from yilse in stunning about 15 bears around the stone , then actually some yilse having the cheek to trash talk after 6 on 1 , make it so that skills go past Monsters / summons when wearing war suit

I agree about removing the potion shops in sedless, vyseus river and vyseus valley

for the stones i think the map is fine, it has been made by three diferent persons, that's why they are much different. And i think natin should learn to play well with his map instead.

Every nation has. The question is balance. I don't give a single damn about who is used to what to be honest and who created it. It's a PVP game and warmaps should be balanced. They are currently not.

@kador, attackers benefit much more from potion shops than defenders because they can restock on potions while in the enemy map. Yllse and Vyseus have no way to restock their potions in Zypern maps, they have to teleport back and run again to get a refill.

Also Gaz made a good point about the bears. The bears aren't only in Yllse alone though. There are more monsters around stones in other maps. Perhaps the number could be reduced a little or the spawn moved.

Yllse have Bears/Lycans
Zypern have Gobs/Stirge
Vyseus Have Bears/Harpies

Every nation has some sort of bottleneck in the monster spawn arguement.

I believe "The Game Happened" goes pretty well in this topic.

I don't feel potions are a huge advantage. Its very very minor, if at all. The GMs have much more priorities to worry about...

No one said this is a priority. These are just easy to implement changes if other priorities are dealt with first... if ever.
