I'm new in the game and I try to mine but I don't really understand how to do it. When I go to a place to mine with my pickaxe I get minerals but my mining skill stays at 5.. why ?
I read about job quests but I don't really understand why we have to do that.. is it to increase mining skills ?
When I go in Barantan to 239,182 I can't talk to the NPC.

Yes, you level your mining level by doing quests which are given by a NPC. First quest is something like "get 20 copper ores".
I forgot the coordinates of the mining NPC, but he's at the barantan mining pit inside a small house (which is a few steps to the left of the mining pit).

Don't be discouraged by the low drop rate of ores. Once you get a few mining levels it will greatly improve.
