The darkness will never be removed as it's part of the gameplay. Also, it doesn't cause any sort of lag. Only thing it might cause is a framerate drop but this only might occur of you have a 1998 computer, which I highly doubt.

I'm sorry but you've never pwnd me that day and my memory is exellent. In arena you've died each time against me. And in war the only priest who pwnd me (and a lot of times cause he's geng XD) is IMpriest.
Also FYI my rares are far from being good since I never work on them. Most of my kills come from pure skill.
