Correct. An ip ban is you're pc personnal ip. They have no right, and reason, to ban you're rooteur. You're pc wich you hacked on should be banned, not you're entire network (that might not be you're, and might have other poeple that play dr on too). If they banned a rooteur, imagine Cyber coffee, etc.

so what you are saying that they are banning your LAN ip?

well, thise have no effect... you can change it 2^x times :)
and if anouther person use that ip he will get ban.
most of the routers (that i know) use internal IP from the net 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x
so if i will use 192.168.67.87 and you use it also and thay will ban it they actually ban us bouth.

If they ban your IP, you can change it... it's easy.

again, NOT correct. An ip ban doesn't ban people using you're rooteur. I got banned more then 30 time, with different routeur. Never my other pc got banned.

Configuring you're own lan and getting around a ban is not the same thing. It's abusing of network knowledge to have an advantage over other player, which is a sort of hack.

édit @ tensu: We ain't speaking about any hack. We are speaking of getting ip banned and the effect it has.

They cannot ban a computers personal IP or MAC adress, since that is covered within the LAN of the router/rooteur whatever you wish to call it. Once an IP is banned, all PC's in the network of that WAN IP are banned. The case is however if you have a static or dynamic ip. In the first case, it'll be a little harder to change your WAN IP, depending on what kind of policy your ISP has set on this, usually unplugging your modem for a couple of minutes/hours will do the trick with cable modems. Dynamic IP's can change every time you connect to the internet, thus making an IP ban ineffective.

The next time you wish to act like a smartass, do your homework.
