Mining/BS made even easier... wait what?

Postby täisdibla » Wed Apr 14, 2010 4:44 pm

WHY?
You make the EASIEST job even easier, the requirements for some of the mining quests should be buffed with this new change in drop rates.
Yet you let butcher&tailoring left untouched and those jobs need an increase in drop rates alot more imo.

Please discuss.

Unlimited monsters to skin.
Not unlimited mines. (Normally Empty)

We are trying to improve this situation.

Are you even DOING the mining/blacksmith quests? It took me 1 hour yesterday just to do the 3 mining quests because there was almost NO crystal spots in all of Vyseus. Go try to make some rares, please. See how many days it takes you to make a G3 red prayer with current diamond rates.

There are no unlimited monster skins, how can you even think that?
At the moment yes because tailor is hard as f*** and no one wants to do it for their guild.
But if there were more, the monster spawns would be taken by different players and players would start to fight over who butchers when and where.
Unlimited? I don't think so, monsters have a respawn timer just as mines do.

Also I forgot to add that with such jobs as mining/fishing/lumbering etc you get additional drops which you do not need, you collect them and give them to guildies, or maybe you get something nice (gemstone) and trade/sell it which in turn makes the job even more easier and more rewarding.

Ofcourse you can gemstones by also killing monsters but the chances are... somewhat slighter...

edit: to make the mining job involve more than just camping the best mining spot, make the mines have 2x less ore but respawn 3x faster, you would have to run around more from spawn to spawn.

edit2: Also why do you think 10 out of the 13 first grandmasters were miners?

Just a clarification, you do not receive gemstones from doing Mining, Fishing, Lumbering, or Herbdigging.

Also, the current respawn times for mining was every 4-5 hours or so. Monster respawn about 10-30 seconds for monsters with skins. There is a huge difference.

Also, there are several different maps with certain monsters you can get the skins from.

With mining, there are typicall 3 mining areas for each nation and if all those spots are empty within 4 hours, where would you go?

Monsters will always respawn. Even if it's a slow rate. The monsters needed for butcher/tailor can be found in multiple maps and pits. For mining or any other jobs, the spawn points take x amount of time to spawn. That means whoever gets lucky and manages to get a spawn point will get just about all the ores from that point. Butcher is a more constant item getting rate.

Yes but at the same time, you take longer to finish your objective. With butcher, generally it's 1-2 monsters to get 1 skin. With mining, sometimes it takes 5 minutes to mine up the 1 specific gem you want (if there's even a pit for it). Maybe i have a ton of things left over but what am I supposed to do with it? Not all items are being used for quests. The majority of the time I end up with crap. I'm sure if I give guildies my crap items, they won't give me their diamonds in return because they need it too. So how long is it going to take me to make a G3? I can estimate how long it takes to make a tailor items because I can go after specific material. Mining is just a game of luck.

Basil in great grassland. white birch in lethe river. Farming is unlimited seeds. Butcher has knocker's tower + lethe mountain.

As far as i know there's no neutral maps for fishing or mining. I could be wrong though. I think there are some for fishing I just can't think of it.

The logic that butchers have infinite monsters is sound. You'll have to be pretty delusional to argue against that.

Mining and blacksmith quests is hardly the easiest like you say it is. In fact I dare you to try it yourself and see before you come up with assumptions. Between butcher and tailor, mining and blacksmith takes longer to do 1 quest on average. Just because each mine drops low level materials doesn't mean they're useful. The hit and miss isn't all benefits, its very time consuming.

Well said, I agree on some parts.
Mining is more a game of luck BUT it's still easier to finish, + you don't have to move around so much.
In return the items for blacksmithing are harder to make, so that kinda balances things.
Thank you for a good argument, but I still think the recent change to mining was unnecessary. Tailor should have received something aswell ( yes indeed I am a tailor, I won't deny it, but I'm not whining for my own sake here since I am doing superb )
There are plenty of options for butchers because there are few butchers, that's it, nothing else. If there were as much butchers as miners, there would be a war in every map.

And please comment on my idea of making mines have 2x less ore but respawn 3-4x faster.

I will agree with you on the fact that mining takes less effort (physical work) compared to tailor. It's not about items being harder to make, but it's impossible to make because of lack of materials. If you really want to make mining and butcher fair, make rats or some other low level mosnter spawn at the mine fields. This way plays can't just use an autoclicker constantly. They will need to fight the monsters like butchers need to do.

Will not change anything, really. You will be spending more time waiting for the mine to drop the gem you want. At the same time, you would be doing the same thing before the increase in regen speed just instead of waiting for the em to stop, you wait for the mine to respawn.
