New AFK Leveling Rules

Since it is inefficient for GMs and RCs to wait 5 minutes for each AFK, the time will be decreased to 15 seconds before the punishment. However, if you mail the GM or RC who gave you the punishment within 5 minutes of the punishment, it will be dissolved.

Will you disconnect and ban someone if they do not reply within 15 seconds? Personally I play 2 chars at the same time and if I'm on 1 char, it's hard to tab to the second char without dying and it may take more than 15 seconds to move the char I'm controlling to a safe place to tab into the second char.

If you disconnect and ban someone after 15 seconds, how can we contact the GM/RC that gave the punishment if the account is banned and we can't relog?

What about the players who are not aware of this change in rules? Not everyone reads the forums every single day and there was no "rules updated" or "last update April 12, 2010" post on the in game rules post so most players wouldn't know about this update in rule.

What about players of different languages? The rules aren't translated to multiple languages so a rule like this where they're only given 15 seconds to reply may catch then unaware.

I am in the process of updating and clarifying the rules. For now, the current rule still applies and any ambiguity will be determined by the GM in order to ensure the principle (no AFK leveling, no hacking, etc) are upheld. As for the rules, I will notify the community with announcements in game and I will post the last updated part per your suggestion. Just a heads up, it is the player's responsibility to read the rules. Excuses such as I didn't know and such will not be entertained.

Around 10 hours ago, I made an announcement in game to remind players to read the rules. I will continually do so so that people are kept up to date. When the rules are clarified and updated, I will make another announcement to players to read the rules. And we will discuss the issue of different languages, thank you for the heads up.

The rules list is pretty long. For me it takes 5 minutes or less to read it thoroughly. For someone who doesn't speak english fluently it may take 30+ minutes. I don't mind reading the rules but I don't want to have to check it everyday because it -may- have changed in some day. Most games' rules don't change at all for months. This is different because the server is new and things are still getting tweaked but it's just what people are used to.

I could be a new player today. read the rules. Then tomorrow I see an announcement saying go read the rules. Well I would think "I just read it yesterday I know what the rules are" when the rules have actually changed. So make sure to tell players that the rules have changed since date/time please.

Also, please clarify HOW to contact the RC/GMs that gave the punishment. In previous servers, players got an in game mail then get banned. That system is flawed because if you're banned, you can't read the in game mail. Also there's no support ticket system. So contact the RC/GM in game or on the forum?

Your point is taken. Perhaps I will bold the parts that have been changed if they are minor changes, or post a response in the same topic with the changes done to the rules.

When there are any changes to the rules, I will make sure to notify the community via announcements. From there on, it is up to the players to read the updated rules or not.

We will also clarify how bans are done. Obviously, in game mail won't work since the player will be banned. What I'm thinking of is if a player has a warning already (for AFK), the GM or RC has an obligation to stay beyond the 15 seconds and actually witness the five minute rule, as GMSP did with grofire. That way the evidence is clear for action. For hacking, I don't think there's any question the player deserves a ban. If there are questions, for now the PM system should work. After we are done putting out the fires, we will work on getting the support system up and running. For now, please accept our apologies for any ambiguity or confusion and we thank you for your suggestions and pointing out the flaws, it helps very much to see it from a different perspective.

Instead of a instant bann,

Couldn't a GM send the player a ingame mail giving him a warning and disconnect his character(s), then if caught again Ban him?

It wouldn't be hard to make a database with the names you give warning's to

Do something like
1st (Warning via ingame mail and disconnect)
2nd (Warning and negative exp given to the user)
3rd (Banned from the system/servers)

And naturally this would involve the account (so up to 4 characters on the account)

And if it was some one disputing it, on the first warning it would give them time to dispute it, if they do not, then obviously they are completely guilty

i dont see why they would need a 2nd warning... the first should be more then enough

what about sending the char to a certain safe place where a bot will spam a chat saying " you have "y" time left to write "xxxx" to be unbanned", log out could olso stop de countdown.

xxxx is a random number generated when the character enters the place.

this way the bot will do the waiting and people that whent to the toilet wont get banned

I'll be pissed if my tank went afk 30 seconds to go to the toilet and a GM teleports him out, my whole party dies, and the tank comes back and needs to run all the way back to vd2 or something =.=

Your pt would still die because you would be disconnected because you didn't respond.
