Worth starting?

Postby cHk4 » Sat Apr 03, 2010 3:38 pm

Never played Dragon Raja before but I love the 2D/2.5D isometric type games (UO, Legend of Mir etc)

Is it worth start? Is there a steep learning curve? Is there skill points/stat points? Is there a level limit? In terms of solo content is there much or is there a lot that require groups to do?
PvP - is this only in certain places or any where? When you die do you drop items? In PvP if you die do you drop items?

Thanks

It's worth starting if you stick it out past the grind and into the higher levels where the game really starts (PK oriented, level 100+). The learning curve I would consider steep, mostly because you have to play against other people who are at this point much more experienced than a new person would be. If you learn and adapt quick though, you'll have no problem being able to hold your own. The level limit is 150, but... It's doubtful anyone will reach it.

There are skill points and stats, if you're unsure what to pick, most people can tell you. A good hint (for stats at least) is to buy items that you can't wear from shops yet, and aim for the stat points reflected on this items. So for example if I'm level 1 Priest, I'll buy a Holy Hat or something, and aim for the stats that a Holy Hat require to wear it.

For skill points (only applies to warriors / thieves / archers), I would make sure to ask someone before picking. Generally, if you're a thief, get Ice Blast first, if you're archer, Multi-Fire. Warrior; Lightning Boom. If you're a priest / wiz, you get all the spells, but you can't get skills.

Solo content depends on your class. It's harder for some classes to solo than others, but a group is always more beneficial and usually a lot less work involved.

PVP can and will happen anywhere and everywhere, even in main cities (though it's not usually serious PK here). You only drop items if you have "NK" (11+ of it), which you get by killing people in the main cities. The only consequence to dying is against monsters, where you lose 0.5% of your exp after level 100.

Edit for you edit: A good solo class is the Thief. Probably the best, followed by archer and wiz, warrior and priest. In PVP, all classes are good. Archer might be the only class at a slight disadvantage, but not by too much. It mostly depends on the rares you make.

Nice mate, perfect. I don't mind grinding I must admit I do enjoy it.

So from what you said I take it there is no stat/skill resets, once you have chosen your stuck with it? I'm looking to go either an Archer or a Theif I think.

Also just to make sure... This is an official server right?

i'll start with welcomming u to dr (Y)

ofcourse it's worth starting to play dragonRaja :p

there's a training ground where u can learn the basics about dr, altho i advise u to get to know some older players who can tell u lots of extra tricks about the game.

there's stats and skill points in dr indeed. u get 10 stat points each lvl and u can get dual u get another 100 stats (there's extra explination about this on the site). there's also skill points, u can add 1 each 5 lvl's or so.

the max level one can reach is lvl 150 but it takes long enough before reaching this lvl, i myslef hv never seen anyone get this lvl on a low rate server (like this server) before

u dont need groups for everything, it's advised to hv a group tho, cuz groups get advantages in pk, big quests and get faster exp when lvling aswell

so far, except for some small places (like a safe zone in each main town) u can pk everywhere, altho in some maps u get nk while pking and only if u hv over 10nk u'll drop items when killed (but this is only if u die in one of those maps where u can get nk)

finnally, good classes to solo and pvp would be archer and thief. (ltho all classes can be good for pvp in the right hands)

its deff worth a start. there is skill points that you can shoose to add to whereever you want wich in tern make the game very diverse. You can solo or join a group called a party to gain faster EXP and tatic levels , but yoou dont neccisarily need a group to level up. PvP can be anywhere at anytime besides certin area's of the Town, and specific safe spots. When you die you will olly drop items if you intern attacked somone in town first wich means you get NK. depending on how many times you hit somone in town you get 1 NK and you get 20 NK for killiong somone. when you past the point of like 8 NK you walk very slow and you eaither need to wait like 10 Min per NK to dissapeiar or a Priest can cast a spell called Anthem to make it go away. every class has its ups and downs. a Theif is a mix of all classes with fairly good def meadium attack and medium HP, and the most versitial class. Priest has a spell called life drain that when cast makes the player's HP drop to about 3k and under which makes it a really good offencive class with some practice, while it also is a great tanker class with its high HP. Warriors are the born tankers with High HP and fairly high attack for how slow it hits. Archer is a good PvP class with its multi fire hitting 5 hits on an enemy bu ut its lack of a sheild makes it vurnerabile. and mages are the blaster class, with its spells hitting really high damage but low HP in turn. Overall each class has its ups nd downs, but it makes for a really fun and ballanced game. i hope this could help :)

It is possible to reset stats (with a item purchased from Mall) and skills (quest item), but the skills one is a pain in the ass to get, and not messing up your skills is fairly easy so if you can avoid having to do it, all the better. Stats reset is usually necessary but only after level 105, and that depends on what you decide to Dual Class... but this is a whole other ball game that you can deal with when you reach there.

I don't know whether it's official or not, I don't think anyone knows for 100% sure. GM's say they are unable to discuss the nature of their relationship with Samsung (I think it's Samsung), and to contact them for information about whether this server is official or not. Personally, I don't care enough to try that hard. This is the last low-rate server, with GM's that are actively changing things to make the game more welcoming to new players, as well as old. As far as I knew, in the past, official servers were not able to change anything drastic about the game because of the contract agreements. And well... we all know what's happened to those servers. If you're worried about losing money, then just don't spend any. Find alternative means of acquiring RE in-game, which isn't that hard.

You get a free stat reset at level 100. If you haven't figured out what stats you want by then you can always ask someone in-game or ask here on the forums.
