Mining & Smithing troubles

I'm new here so apologies if this is posted elsewhere but I couldn't see it on the list of known bugs.

Mining: I've built up my mining to iron/ silver level but using the refining option there is no ability to select any ore apart from copper and quartz. I bought the ore to raise the level higher but still no appearance of Iron nor silver.

Smithing: I completed the 1st section (10 Double daggers), npc asks for 10 cleavers but, like mining, there is no cleavers to select to build. I bought said cleavers and NPC wont accept them.
