correct me if im wrong but i think this bug is just the client getting out of synch with the server.. the monster can keep attacking you cause its logic is probably running on the server and the server "knows" he is close enough of you to attack you, in the client he keeps stucked in a far position and you cant attack him melee cause the client probably try to validate with the position he thinks the monster is.. somehow the client loose track of some monsters and keep then stuck in the same position but i remember while i was playing that sometimes the client is able to correct this bug and update the right position of a stucked monster back where it must be and you just see a monster running really fast close to you, mabe if it is easy to track what the game use to update the monster position just need to run this check more often to correct this..
