Events with or without GMs

Postby Titus » Mon Feb 14, 2011 4:19 pm

Players have much more time than GMs, so the idea is to create events with or without the GMs presence.

If the GM team agrees with the event, they will give the prices to the winners. Not need to be in the same day.

We have to work/play with respect , and follow the rules , if not we will fail organizing the event, we will fail as player, and we will fail as a community.

Some people argue about how GMs manage the events, lets see if we can create and run an event without the presence of the GM team. It will be hard, but we can do it if we play together .
If we fail, we cant argue anymore to GMs events :) .

I will suggest 1 event, if you have more or better ideas please reply.

Butchering Event : ( Each nation can do it separeted, or can be a World Event )

Requeriments : 20 Premiun Clothes.

To be part of the event, you have to give 20 premiun clothes to the event manager. ( 1st Day )
The 2nd day you have to give 30 premiun clothes, if you fail, you are out of the competition.
The 3rd day you have to give 50 premiun clothes, if you fail, you are out of the competititon.
The 4thday you have to give 80 premiun clothes, if you fail, you are out of the competititon.
The 5thday you have to give 120 premiun clothes, if you fail, you are out of the competititon.
The 6thday you have to give 170 premiun clothes, if you fail, you are out of the competititon.
The 7thday you have to give 230 premiun clothes, if you fail, you are out of the competititon.

Until only 1 player still inside de the event.

The 1rst Place will win 40% of items colected + a price selected by GM team .
The 2nd Place will win 25% of items colected + a price selected by GM team .
The 3rd Place will win 15% of items colected + a price selected by GM team .
The 4th and 5th Place will win 10% of items colected + a price selected by GM team .
6th to 10th will win a price selected by GM team.

Please reply with your opinions.

Sorry about my english :)

i like the idea of event made by players but as you say "We have to work/play with respect , and follow the rules , if not we will fail organizing the event, we will fail as player, and we will fail as a community" this part will be incredibly hard to do.

as for the event you suggest i dont think it will work for 2 reasons:

1)guild chat: plz give all you premiun clothes i will give it back when we win.
2)time sink: the quest is boring, all day jobing for who knows how many days is not exactly fun.

just a random idea but what about a dodgeball event.
rules: everyone will be using lv 1 equipment shoes, armor, etc (only shoes realy matter but will help againts people who try to use speed rares.

event: a big square will be done in the floor several priest will cast rage ball light from outside the square, those who get hit have to leave the place the last one is the winner.

I like your event :) . Can be done if people cooperate with respect and folowing the rules.

About my event, perhaps we can do teams, instead of individual players, perhaps nations vs nations.
As much people join the competition, biggest will be the price.

About time sink, we need to think on a better solution... keep Replying with more ideas.

Personally, I wouldn't join the 'Butchering Event' because its no fun. Events are suppose to be fun, and something different than your everyday gaming. This is why you need to come up with unique and fun events such as Pepex stated. Sounds interesting but needs to be thought about and organized better.

Also, another problem is motivation to join these "player made" events. There are many players that won't join just because the prizes are horrible. So this is where the player that is making the event needs to come up with ideas to collect prizes. Whether it would be charity, fee to enter, or personal contribution.

Just my thoughts.

Pepex's idea is epic&awesome. Lets say 4 priests are casting ragelightball while people run around the designated area. People can't use pots or they'll be disqualified ( 2-3 players judge in ghost form watching that players don't switch equipment/use pots )
With 7 people you could effectively host this event, but...
The problem is Grade-A type asshole behavior. Since it's not an official event a group of players can and will ruin it one way or another and that's one of the reasons why it will fail so miserably. A good possible example is Espada.

The price its not the problem. If GMs agreed with event, they can give the prices another day.

We have to work in Rules and Education.

We cant educate from another country, so i suggest to take screenshots of those who want to ruin the event, and report them for Harasment to playing people .

We can try one time, remember that we are playing after all.

I suggest to go ahead on planing the priests event .

¿ How many people we need ?

¿ How many priest we need ?

¿ How many people will run from balls? ¿ We need to do many eliminatories rounds?

¿ The priests can participate as normal players too ?

¿ What prices should be given ?

¿ When we start the event ?

¿ Where we run the event ?

Your best bet for an event is just a PvP tournament. Players pay you BEFORE they fight (either in RE or in items of equal RE value). Then 1st price get 50% of the cuts. 2nd prize gets 30%. 3rd prize gets 20%. Or something along those lines. It's fun and doesn't require grinding and everyone in DR love to show off their ePeen anyways.

You can even do like some kinda mount race. Like everyone put on horse saddle so we all run at the same speed and go from destination A to destination B. You need something that won't require grinding because that stuff's just kinda boring.

pvp tournaments is the last thing i would like to see, events should be equaly fun for everyone not only for those who are already in the top.

You can always break it up into brackets or put on a limit on rares so that you know... people actually need to make a pros and cons list for what items they use again.

Another event is like a killing race where you time how long it takes for a person/team to kill a certain amount of monsters while wearing limited rares. Of course, that would be hard to track without GM supervision.
