Buffing Staves.

Staves are good wooden fighting weapons that need skill and precision to use correctly and are also sometimes used to block oncoming attacks from enemies sometimes, so this is what I suggest:
Make staves give some white AC. The AC bonus won't be anywhere near as much as shields though. It would be something between DS 2h weapons and grapple ( for example the defence bonus starts at Gridabor ( 57tt ) at +1 and keeps climbing to +10 at Shivering Staff ( DS grade ) )
D1/D2/d3 staves could have different bonus effects though or even no effect at all ( since they are used as Legends aswell ) ( like maybe basic resist on wiz staff and smart on priest staff )

This would encourage the use of staves more because atm everyone just wears a shield for the huge white AC boost ( they still would even after this would be implemented, just that more people would use staves now in more situations ). Imo it won't be OP, but you can disagree and post why. Also the numbers would need discussing ( the example above is just an example )


I searched the forum for similar topics but I found only 2 topics which discussed how to buff whirling and they are both long dead.

i would prefer to make staff give increased spell damage say:

rod: +2% wiz spel damage +4% priest spell damage
wand:+3% wiz spel damage +6% priest spell damage
long rod:+4% wiz spell damage +8% priest spell damage

Basic resist >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Spell damage for wizard. Ac is sadly much more valuable than pure spell damage. But i like your idea, but i'd suggest adding greater spell damage bonus or a slight basic resist bonus.

i think they can disable wep+parry use from wizards+priests, normaly every game priest+wizard use just staves. This mine opinion balance thief OP as welll.

i know basic resist is strong but consider that spell damage affects the final damage so if a wiz is hitting for 20k, 23% of that damage (with non dual class staff) means his damage will raise to 24600, this stacks with basic resist or magic vigor.
