In DR, there are smart and AC rares for physical attacks. There are evasion and resist all/fire/lightning/ice/holy for magical attacks. For curse spells, there is only Resist Venom and Paralysis. So essentially, there is no rare type protection against other curse spells.
I would like to see some new rare types called "Curse Evasion" and "Resist Curse".
Curse Evasion: has a possibility to evade ALL curse type magic and skills. It will follow the smart/evasion grade pattern (3%, 7%, 15%, etc) and be maxed at 37%. This rare will give players protection against curse spells such as life drain (which currently can only be countered with a few certain priest spells) and skills such as defood (which has no way to protect against except for eating food).
Resist Curse: resist all curse magic and skills. It will give resistance to all curse spells/skills including spells. In the case of curse spells that do damage (such as life drain and poison) it will reduce the amount of HP drained. In he case of curse spells that give a status effect, it will diminish the effect by a certain % (for example if G1 Resist curse is 3%, and someone uses Dark Blade lvl 3 on the person using the G1 Resist curse, the 45% speed reduction will turn into a 43% speed reduction).
These rares will NOT be overpowered because for anyone who chooses to use these rares, they will lose the ability to use offensive rares. Also, this should give player some protection against those curse type spells most of us complain about.
