Balancing Nations

Postby LadyPhoenix » Mon Apr 12, 2010 8:13 pm

Obviously, nations aren't balanced as far as population AND player experience go. From what I've been told this is how the nations are currently:
Vyseus: high population of experienced players
Yllse: high population with few experienced players
Zypern: low population with few experienced players

Let's brainstorm (not always the best ideas but anything is worth a mention. maybe someone else can build off on a "bad" idea) on some possible ways to balance the nations and maybe the GMs will implemented one or more so that the server is more fun for everyone.

Possible solutions:
1. free nation transfer into the weakest nation and no transfer into strongest nation
2. price nation transfers differently. (ex. 1000RE to strongest nation, 750RE to middle nation, 500RE to weakest nation)
3. discount for guild nation transfer (ex. 3000RE to transfer all chars from a guild regardless of number of chars in the guild)
4. give handicaps and rewards according to number of characters online from each nation (ex. total online population is 300. 150 are Vys. 100 Yllse. 50 Zyp. The zyp population is only 1/6 of total population. So Zypern will get +50% bonus. Yllse get 0% bonus. Vys gets 0 bonus.) Possibly in war, wearing war suit only bonus.
Possible types of bonus:
-a. hp bonus
-b. damage bonus
-c. defence bonus
-d. evasion bonus
-e. exp bonus
5. war stone pennatly (ex. strongest nation -2 stone at start of war, middle nation gets -1 stone)
6. free transfer into weakest nation with some incentive (gift) if players STAY in the nation for x months.

NOTE: any ways to balance the nations must not be something that can not easily be abused by players with a lot of money aka players switch to weakest nation for the benefit, get max lvl/tt, then switch back to original nation.

i like 1, 2 and 5 (but 1 cant be constant, it should be some sort of "event")

* i dont like 3 cuz it could easely unbalance that way for another nation.
* i think option 4 would make the lower populated nation lil to strong. there's many ppl owning mulltiple chars wich makes it harder to see who has the most players aswell
* dont like 6 cuz it can be abused (even tho they'll hv to wait longer to get the gift)

i too think this is an issue that needs to be taken on. when the nations are unbalnaced it can make the game less fun, especially during wars. i like the idea of no 1 but am unsure on the others.

i think it should treated at the source. try and encourage new players to go to the emptiest nation maybe by adding perks that would be usefull to new players but not high lvls to try and stop abuse. maybe like 300k startin money or dmg buffs till lvl 21 or a free cs book. summin like that.

yes but new players essentially begin with nothing. By the time a new player joins, old players may have G5's and legends. It would take a long time for these new players to catch up to the old players. Time in which if they keep losing, may just give up on the game and quit. If you think about why we need balanced nations, it's because we need people to help their nation pk in quests and such. If the nation with the old players keeps dominating quests, the new players may never even get a chance to get legends to catch up.

this is very true, and we definatley need to balance out the higher lvls between the nations but this would be much harder, i think most of the veterans are quite set in their nation choices due to friends/guilds and in some cases enemies.

also all though will take time low lvl's do becmoe higher lvls who will impact and do also just help to bulk out the numbers a bit to make it easier for people to lvl. i bet if you join zypern in like another weeks time it will be practicaly impossible to find a party below 5x regularly

This is the 2nd week and we are already talking about transfer? We should wait a little bit. At least two months and see how it gonna work :greet:
Be the change you wanna see to the world.
