Is there a quest-npc right next to you when you start up in the "Beginner Zone" ?
You could do easy quests that let players get a feel for what to do in the game through some easy quests that rewards a little crit here & there..

i allways thought the starting area etc.. was only part that was fine in most cases, but a tutorial part for new players would be good as long as those who played DR before hand chance to skip it.
