You are correct that rules are in place for a reason and everybody, including GMs, should follow it. This is why originally, the first character caught using the sprite-hack had a permanent ban, the same punishment for hacks/edits for past occurrences. However, at the same time we want to keep the server populated and enjoyable for all. If this was near server start, we'd have permanently banned every character caught using this without second thought. Now it is different, we still wish to punish hackers but not to the extent where it hurts the server as a whole through more mass bans.

We know this may be unfair to players who have played legitly the entire time (And we really do appreciate it), but we will minimize the impact on you guys through bans and removal of the items benefited from the hack. This hack, though is harmful in its own way, is not a black and white hack that can easily justify a permanent hack. Again, we do understand it may be unfair to everybody who has played fairly and we do apologize.

On a personal opinion, it is not unfair at all the past hackers. The rules are not absolute (We have not permanent ban those who have deleted pcloud or icestorm in the past). There is always leisure in the rules based on degree of the breaking of rules. If you have been permanently banned in the past for breaking rules then that's too bad for you. Don't come complaining how we handle future cases when you can't even follow the rules yourself.

On that note, please try to put this case to a close to the best of your abilities. They will have their benefits removed and will receive additional ingame ban time on top of that. It has NEVER been about "sharing accounts", otherwise we never would have permanent ban the first person caught with this. The decisions are always made with impact on server in mind.
