Is it legal to edit some minor game files?

1. Changing game sounds/music
2. Deleting spell graphics like poison cloud (this has been done by people for a long time because it's just a pain in the ass in VD)
3. en_lang such as changing the res phones from "Edelweroi of cosmos and the great storm" to just "res"

Would be nice if you could give a reason why one is allowed over the other. They're all file editing and doesn't give an unfair advantage, nor is it exploiting anything. They're merely editing so that we don't lag out our PC and we don't have to type 10 words when we can type one. Seems like you arbitrarily decided one could be allowed over the other.

1 is just sound - the other is game play

Sound is part of the gameplay. I could make footsteps sound much louder (edit files) and be alerted sooner to the presence of another player.

Another example that sound is part of the gameplay is: a player who turns off sounds has no idea what magic a mage or priest is going to use and cannot act accordingly.

Imho 1 should be forbidden as well.

Who would edit their files to be louder when you could just turn up the volume?
Who would edit their files so you cant hear sound?

Thanks,
Minipp

First of all, if you turn up the volume all sounds get louder thus still making it hard to hear footsteps while fighting and blasting.
The second example is just another clearer example to show that sound is a part of gameplay and doesn't require file editing.
An example to edit files so you can't hear them would be to eliminate sounds that are not useful, only keeping sounds that are useful to you. Can't think of any sounds in Dragon Raja right now that aren't useful, but I'm sure they exist.

edit fire bird?

I could change sounds so that instead of priests saying "oh father, please save our child" it changes it directly to "save our child" and I'll know before anyone else (besides the caster) that the priest is ressing and not casting sfd or some other spell with the same beginning chant. Ressing isn't an important example but what about spells like firebird, fw, cf that all begin the same?
