Dear Players,
We have been receiving several complaints about increasing latency for mostly Asian players. We have investigated these claims on multiple levels and noticed that the complaints about lag started right around the same time as news was published that a very important internet cable was cut near Egypt.
Further investigation leads us to believe that the cut of this submarine internet cable plus a few other disturbances to the internet network in that area is the cause of the current increase of latency/ping for Asian players as the cables that are effected are responsible for routing a lot of internet traffic from Asia to other regions.
While the issue seems to be out of our hand, we have contacted our host to obtain advise on how to improve latency again whilst the cable is out of order. Cable cuts for large internet cables are usually sorted within a few weeks, so we expect the issue to resolve itself within a few weeks as well.
