Archer or Thief (better?)

I am from an old server... Which is better high lvl Archer or Thief??? is there one that is just way better at PvP than the other...

I could really use some wisdom here!

Warriors are godlike once you get max TT for them and uber rares.
Other than that Wizards and Thieves are the best cause they're really good and much, much easier to level than a warrior.

if i may, i have one more question... What rares should i buy for long term? Force, Distance, AC, etc?

A combination of Force and AC for pking. Low level distant rares for leveling. Of course there are other good rares, but using a combination of Force and AC is the simplest and still very effective.
