What support skill should we add to archers?

Adding support skill to Archers

Postby GMSignPainter » Wed Nov 17, 2010 4:25 pm

Dear Players,

We were thinking of adding a support skill to the archers.
The thieves have the Horn of Iceberg skill.

What kind of skill should we add to archers?

About improving Converting armor, is what Thomas said, stacking (up to 5 or so) AC decreasing debuff on other characters.

Regards

I think since archer is a kamikaze ninja and highly offensive in almost every aspect, the support skill should be offensive aswell.
I vote for slow.

I suggest making AC drop arrows be a buff that lasts over time. That or make some kind of "bleeding" effect that will do damage over time like poison (aka archer hits a vital organ in the target and the target slowly bleeds to death).

What's the point of making a thief that uses a bow?

yeah or make stacking shots, every shot decrease AC. For example 5shots max stack

Slow is unusable vs priest and pepsi unusable vs thief...

What is an offensive support skill?

Slow is a skill under the Poison category. So would choosing slow mean we can't have Fire skills?

For what reason(s) should slow be chosen over pepsi?

I'd rather a well-mannered, logical discussion determine the outcome of this topic than mere votes. The poll can easily be contaminated from bias priests/wizards. We all know how much they hate pepsi. :)

I like the idea of making Converting Armor useful. Instead of increasing their AC, Archers decrease the AC of the others XD

Third option is too vague imo. You might wanna explain it in detail before putting it up there.

I agree with this. Instead of working to add something entirely new, we can fix the balance by improving upon an already existing skill. Since archer is the most offensive melee class, and as of now, it fails in comparison to a thief. Allowing archers to decrease the AC of others would build on the idea of it being the "kamikaze" class and differentiate between an archer and a thief. How long should this AC drop effect last? Should there be a buff/potion that prevents it? Will it be overpowered? What does everyone think?

Have to consider archer can not use converting skill when under sfd/pro making him very vunerable... so the duration+effect should be in proportion.
